Alex and Austin tied the knot in Ashtabula, Ohio where they both grew up. They decided that their anniversary and the anniversary of the date Austin proposed to Alex would be a great date to get married, and I couldn’t agree more. I love when couples incorporate dates or other items that mean something to them into their wedding day. I think it makes it that much more meaningful.
Since Alex and Austin were getting ready at The Lodge in Geneva on the Lake, we thought that would make a great spot for their first look. We decided on a great corner of the lobby with good light for the couple’s “around the corner” first look. The couple began by reading the vows they had written aloud to each other. I absolutely loved Alex’s reactions to Austin’s vows. It was so natural and so fun!
The weather was threatening rain all day, but we took a chance and headed out for a few photos of Alex and Austin by the famous Gazebo at The Lodge.
Once everyone was ready, we headed over to Andrus Banquet Center for the couple’s wedding ceremony, officiated by Scott Bancroft. After the ceremony, it was time to head out for some photos with family and friends.
When Alex and Austin submitted their locations, I have to admit, I wasn’t too sure about Point Park there in Ashtabula. It’s not the biggest, or prettiest spot, to be completely honest. But, again, it meant something to Alex and Austin – it’s where he first asked her out and where he proposed – so we rolled with it and I am so glad we did. We were able to create some phenomenal photos thanks to a nice, clear blue sky with some gorgeous white puffy clouds.
After the photos, we headed back to Andrus Banquet Center for dinner, dancing, and a bit of karaoke.
